Advent begins this Sunday, December 2nd.
The word Advent derives from the Latin word meaning coming. THE LORD IS COMING!
We reflect that every year at this time as we celebrate His coming.
First Sunday of Advent ~ Hope: We recall the hope we have in Christ. The prophets of Israel spoke of the coming of Christ, of how a Savior would be born, a King in the line of David. They spoke of how He would rule the world wisely and bless all nations.
Second Sunday of Advent ~ Peace: We are reminded of the place in which preparations were made to receive and cradle the Christ child. God gives us the gift of peace when we turn to him in faith.
Third Sunday of Advent ~ Joy: We recall the joy that Mary felt when angel Gabriel told her that a special child would be born to her--a child who would save and deliver his people.
Fourth Sunday of Advent ~ Love: We are reminded of the love that God has for us. Jesus shows us God's perfect love.
"God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."
