In 2003 the ELCA - Evangelical Church in America realized a need for a congregation to be started in the Island lake area.

This new congregation would focus in ministry on the needs of an expanding young population.

The Northeastern MN Synod and the Churchwide office of the ELCA agreed. They & Pastor Tim answered that call.

On March 1st, 2004; The church congregation of Waters of Life was birthed into reality.

This evolved from the ELCA vision, support from many mission partners, primary mission launch support partnership with Family of God Lutheran Church.

Pastor Tim's dedication and hard work began, with many hours spent knocking on doors and meeting with individuals in the places where they do life together..

Cabins, year round homes, taverns, community centers, and local coffee establishments have all felt the impact of Waters of Life and the presence of a vital link within the community is already being seen-

We are continually blessed & amazed by the opportunities God has given us to minister to the area, the continuous outpouring of gifts & talents from within our membership, the flow of new individuals walking through our doors, the exciting impact the building of our sanctuary, campus, and finally the opening of our faith based Bubbling Brook Child Center in the community.

We thank God for his many continual blessings to Waters of Life and for the gift of Pastor Martenson. We are very grateful! These past eight years have been a blessing to All of us, Thank You for all you do Pastor Tim!
